Young Women’s Initiative Workshop

On Saturday, 21 January, The Young Women’s initiative (YWI) club held the Inaugural Women's Leadership and Empowerment Workshop for VIS Students.

This event brought together over 30 students to engage in workshops ranging from ‘Women and Body Confidence’, ‘Women and Leadership’, and ‘Self Defense Sessions’.

The club welcomed Mansoor, a student living and studying in Vienna from Afghanistan - he spoke about the privilege of having access to education, contrary to the plight of young women in Afghanistan. After the inspiring talk, a Q & A session followed with an 11th Grader, Angie Leibovici, who eloquently shared lessons learned on friendship and social media.

The day was closed with two incredible speakers Ms. Sophie Hogg and Ms. Laila Gerold - who are both leading women in their respective fields. They spoke about never giving up on your dreams, having goals, work ethic and tenacity.

It was empowering and exciting to see so many students actively engaged, having fun and participating in this student-led- initiative. The YWI club is planning on carrying out more events such as this one and we strongly hope that it will continue to inspire and empower all students to pursue their leadership potential and make a positive impact in their communities.
