Sports Teams

The purpose of the VIS Competitive Sports Program is to extend and supplement the regular curricular programs of the school. Its aim is not only to promote excellence in sporting achievements, but also to cultivate the qualities of good sportsmanship. We focus specifically on school pride, respect, teamwork and above all, commitment.

The VIS Competitive Sports Program gives students the opportunity to compete against both international and local schools. We are members of two sports associations: the Danube Valley Athletic Conference (DVAC), which allows to compete with schools from Vienna, Salzburg, Bratislava, Prague and Budapest, and the International School Athletic Association (ISAA), that includes schools from England, Greece, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France Greece, Israel and Egypt.

Based on these associations, our program is divided into three seasons and three age categories (Varsity, Junior Varsity and Middle School). Season 1 (End of August-Mid-November) is the Fall. Season 2 (Mid-November-Mid-March) is Winter and Season 3 (Mid-March-End of May) is Spring. We have boys and girls for most sports.

We consider this program an integral part of your child's education, and hope that you will encourage your child to take part. Here is the list of what is offered at VIS:

  • Fall Season: HS and MS Boys and Girls Soccer, HS Boys and Girls Volleyball, HS and MS Cross Country Running, MS Tennis
