Vienna International School brought students together for a range of activities designed to build environmental awareness and inspire meaningful action.
Primary School in Action
On Monday morning, the Early Years and Grade Primary students performed the "Bee’s waggle dance" to recognize the vital role pollinators play in our ecosystem.
Throughout the Primary School, a variety of student-led activities took place. These initiatives highlighted the need for recycling, caring for our planet, reducing paper use, and engaging in hands-on gardening. Grade 2 students also connected these concepts directly to their curriculum through activities focused on the circularity of products.
A Collective Call to Action
According to UNESCO, climate change is reshaping life across the planet. Collective action driven by young people offers the greatest hope for restoring ecosystems and natural processes.
VIS joined the UN Environment Program’s global campaign to Act#NowForClimate because protecting our planet means protecting our health, our communities, and our future.
Looking Ahead: The Eco Action Plan
We are already preparing our Eco Action Plan for the upcoming school year. Guided by the Eco Team, our student Green Teams will target key areas where we can make a practical difference: recycling, waste management, energy conservation, and minimizing printing to what is truly necessary.
Our choices drive this change. World Environment Day 2026 reminded us that we still have time to alter our course, as sustainable solutions are already building a different future. Let's work together to make the necessary changes and fulfill our mission to be more sustainable.
