VIS proudly marked a milestone by participating in its first-ever chess tournament! Seven of our talented primary students from Grades 2, 3, and 4 represented the school at the prestigious Haus des Schachsports, joining approximately 150 students from various schools across the region. This exciting event provided a unique platform for our young players to showcase their skills, engage in friendly competition, and experience the thrill of a tournament setting.
For many of our students, this was their first-ever chess tournament, making the experience both challenging and rewarding. Despite stepping into uncharted territory, the students demonstrated enthusiasm, resilience, and strategic thinking, taking on each match with confidence and a willingness to learn. Competing against players with varying levels of experience, they embraced the challenge, sharpening their problem-solving skills while building patience and concentration—qualities essential both on and off the chessboard.
We are incredibly proud of our young chess players for their dedication and sportsmanship. This tournament is just the beginning, as VIS plans to continue competing in future events. The Sports and Activities Office will be organizing more opportunities for students to engage in chess competitions moving forward.Congratulations once again to our young chess enthusiasts for making VIS’s first chess tournament a resounding success. We look forward to seeing them—and many more—continue their chess journey in the future!
