VIS Eco School Review 2018/2019

We thank our community for supporting the actions and changes made towards a more sustainable VIS and planet.

This year has seen some exciting developments in the journey of Vienna International School (VIS) towards developing an environmentally aware school community.

The Eco School framework has been enriched through our official participation as a Global School, integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the VIS curricula. In addition, the Primary School has been awarded the Umweltzeichen, the Austrian Green Label. This is the culmination of two years’ work during which time information and evidence was collected concerning procurement and different aspects of the day to day running of the school. Changes have been made to ensure the development of a more sustainable organisation. Next year will see the application process begin for the Secondary school.

The centre of our programme are the initiatives researched and enacted by the Green Teams. We would like to pay tribute to all the students and their group leaders who have worked so hard to put together two successful Global Action Days events when the students were actively involved in spreading information and promoting sustainability at school. Students have continued to monitor recycling, as this is an area we all need to be more aware and develop further in our school community.

We thank our community for supporting the actions and changes made towards a more sustainable VIS and planet.
