Every year after the Conference of the Parties (this year COP30), the VIS community engages in the ECO Action Week, a dedicated time for students to explore how they can contribute to real, measurable change. Throughout the week, students from different grades were engaging deeply with actions connected to COP30, the Sustainable Development Goals, and Eco School themes. Through hands-on workshops, interactive seminars, and guided learning experiences, students are gaining a practical understanding of global challenges while discovering how their daily choices and collective initiatives can support a more sustainable world.
On Monday, 24 November, we opened our celebration with a message to our community by our School Director and the beautiful music performance by the Primary School Choir. We welcomed our guest speakers and the schools visiting us.
An important part of the event was the launch of the VIS Eco Hub initiative, which aims to promote knowledge-sharing and collaboration between international schools. By bringing together students and teachers from partner schools, the VIS Eco Hub empowers young people to exchange ideas, showcase sustainability projects, and work collectively on initiatives that extend far beyond the classroom. This collaborative network strengthens our shared commitment to environmental responsibility and supports students in taking meaningful action at both local and global levels.
During the workshops, our VIS Student Ambassador invited our community and our guest schools to collaborate and unite to make a local difference by engaging in environmental projects in Austria.
We thank our community, the visiting schools, and the guest speakers for their great collaboration and support during our Eco Action Week this year!
Together, these efforts empower our students to develop the knowledge, mindset, and leadership skills needed to shape a more sustainable and just future. From climate-focused discussions to hands-on eco-projects, the week highlights VIS’s ongoing dedication to education for sustainable development and meaningful youth engagement.
