VIS Earns 4th Green Flag

School earns its fourth accreditation for its efforts in sustainable development

Vienna International School has achieved a remarkable milestone by earning its 4th Green Flag as part of the Eco Schools programme. On 13 November, the Primary and Secondary Green Teams presented the results of the 2019–2024 Action Plan during the Eco School re-accreditation review. The students also outlined potential actions for the upcoming 2024–2028 plan based on an environmental review, which will be finalised and shared with the VIS community.

This accomplishment reflects the dedication of the entire VIS community to fostering sustainable practices and adapting lifestyles for a healthier planet. As the first International Eco School in Austria, accredited by Eco Schools, Global Schools, and Umweltzeichen, VIS continues to integrate sustainability into its curriculum. Through hands-on engagement with the Eco School Programme and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, students are empowered to address pressing global issues and develop actionable solutions.

Congratulations to the Primary and Secondary Green Teams for their commitment to environmental advocacy and leadership. Their efforts exemplify VIS’s mission to nurture responsible global citizens who contribute to a sustainable future. We thank everyone in the VIS community for supporting this vital work and welcome ongoing feedback to strengthen our sustainability initiatives further.
