VIS at the Vienna Night Run 2025

A record 162 students and staff represent our school in one of Vienna’s most iconic races

On 25 September, VIS brought its trademark energy and school spirit to the annual Vienna Night Run, joining thousands of runners in the 5 km circuit around the historic Ringstrasse. Against the backdrop of Vienna’s illuminated cityscape, a proud team of 162 students and staff represented our school with enthusiasm and determination.

This year’s event saw more than 15,000 participants take to the course, creating a sea of runners weaving through the city’s heart. The route, which begins near Burgring close to the Natural History Museum and loops the Ringstrasse before finishing near the Opera, is celebrated for its stunning views of Vienna’s landmarks and its lively, festival-like atmosphere after dark.

For many VIS participants, the run was about more than just fitness. It was an opportunity to strengthen friendships, build school spirit, and show what it means to be part of our community. The race also marked the beginning of Grade 11’s CAS programme within the Activity strand, with over 90 percent of the grade participating—an impressive display of commitment to physical well-being and personal growth.

This year also brought a special highlight: VIS achieved the distinction of being the second fastest school in Vienna, a testament to the hard work and enthusiasm of all our runners.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and helped make VIS’s presence at the Vienna Night Run truly unforgettable!
