On Saturday, 5 April and Sunday, 6 April, over 60 VIS students proudly represented our school as volunteers at the 42nd Vienna City Marathon. The student helpers played a vital role in the event by handing out medals, providing refreshments, and assisting with medal engraving in the finishing area, thus helping to create a memorable experience for thousands of runners.
Saturday saw enthusiastic participation from many of our Primary School students in the children’s daily mile runs and the 5km race along the historic Ringstraße. The excitement continued on Sunday as 12 VIS relay teams took part in the marathon relay. Every team successfully completed the race and was welcomed at the finish line by fellow VIS students—this time in the role of volunteers handing out well-deserved medals.
The Vienna City Marathon has become a meaningful tradition for the VIS community, combining sportsmanship, volunteerism, and community engagement. We are proud of all our students who participated, ran, or volunteered, and we look forward to returning for the 43rd Vienna City Marathon in 2026!
