Our 2025-26 Eco Journey Begins

This week, our new Eco Journey officially took off as the Green Teams in the Primary School and Grades 6 & 7 began their work for the year.

After reviewing the Eco School themes, students identified issues they felt were most relevant to our community. Their first initiatives will focus on creating a litter-free campus and supporting global organizations that protect animals and vulnerable environments around the world.

The Green Teams play an active role throughout the year by organizing campaigns and raising awareness of environmental issues connected to the Eco Schools programme. In Secondary School, the Eco Action Team complements this work by leading projects that directly improve our school’s facilities and advance our Education for Sustainable Development Agenda (Eco Agenda).

The Eco Action Team’s projects for 2025-26 include:

  • Enhancing biodiversity on campus

  • Eco gardening initiatives

  • Waste reduction, recycling, and sustainable resource management

  • Maintenance of the Eco Lab

  • Supporting Green STEAM education in Primary School (as a CAS project)

  • Circularity projects for clothes, books, and toys

  • Eco news and information sharing

  • Collaboration during VIS Global Action Week (November 2025)

  • Participation in Eco School Day festivities (April and May 2026)

Students have the flexibility to join any of these projects or propose new ones, tailoring their involvement to their interests and level of commitment. Participation counts toward both S&A and CAS Eco experiences. Secondary students are also encouraged to contribute to community service through the Lost & Found project.

Through these efforts, our students are actively shaping a more sustainable school environment and helping us grow as a proud Eco School.

Join the teams making a difference and take part in the global movement to restore our planet. For information related to our Eco programme, please contact ecoschools(at)vis.ac.at.
