Just Hear Those Sleigh Bells Jingling…

On Wednesday last week, the Performing Arts Department’s Extra Curricular Ensembles performed as a part of VIS Winter Market.

In total, more than 130 students/teachers performed a variety of musical numbers representing the winter season and the beginning of the new year.

Some highlights included the Secondary Band playing Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride” and the perennial favorite of the Vienna Philharmonic's New Years’ Concert “Radetzky March” (with the requisite audience participation, of course), as well as the String Ensemble’s expert rendering of Händel’s  “Entrance of the Queen of Sheba.”

Audiences were blown away by the solo performance of Grade 11 student Michelle Karani, warmed by the Primary String Ensemble’s rendition of the “Abendsegen” from Hansel and Gretel, and tickled by the Middle School Choir’s jazzy arrangement of “A Perfect Winter Day.”

This was a great concert and a wonderful moment leading us towards the winter holidays coming up soon. A very well done to our students and teachers for their hard work and dedication!
