International Peace Day

Students held different celebrations in classrooms and outdoors, having the opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Peace.

The VIS community celebrated the worldwide International Day of Peace this week. Students throughout the school held different celebrations in classrooms and outdoors, having the opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Peace. We were also excited to connect with the Austrian Roots and Shoots organisation, who featured a special message from Jane Goodall.

The students from the German Department in the Secondary School displayed their messages in German, written on paper doves shaped as symbols of Peace. In Grade Primary, the children sang a song about Peace and wrote the word in their own mother tongue. Finally, the Primary Choir performed a beautiful song about the importance of having peace in the world.

All these activities, moments of reflection, discussions and messages, help our students develop a sense of the understanding of the concept of Peace and its meaning to us and the world around us.

What does Peace mean to you? We invite our readers to reflect about the importance of having peace and the set of values that the future generations should live by and nurture in order to maintain peace.
