International Jazz Day

International Jazz Day celebrated with rhythmic fervour at Vienna International School.

The vibrant melodies of jazz filled the air as VIS celebrated International Jazz Day on Friday, 28 April. The morning event saw students, teachers, and music enthusiasts come together to commemorate the rich history and cultural significance of jazz music.

International Jazz Day, which falls on April 30th each year, was officially designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2011. It aims to highlight the power of jazz as a tool for promoting peace, dialogue, and cultural diversity. VIS embraced this ethos and organised a series of activities to educate, entertain, and inspire its students.

The morning commenced with a lovely performance put together by talented students from various grade levels, showcasing their exceptional musical skills. The performances captivated the audience with their soulful improvisations and infectious rhythms. During lunchtime, our students were treated to a concert by our private instrumental (VISMA)  teachers in the dining room and treated the students with a mix of different styles of jazz.

Congratulations to all students and teachers involved in celebrating the International Jazz Day and for enchanting the community with the lovely sound of jazz!
