International Day of Peace 2022

On Wednesday, 21 September 2022, we celebrated the International Day of Peace at Vienna International School (VIS).

On Wednesday, 21 September 2022, we celebrated the International Day of Peace at Vienna International School (VIS). To commemorate this important event, we invited all students and staff members to wear white clothes on the day.

The school day started with a performance by our Primary School Choir enjoyed by everyone present, followed by a welcoming speech by the VIS Director, Dr. John Zuman, along with some inspiring words of passionate students. In addition to the students, parents and staff members present, we were honoured to receive the visit of the Vienna Peace Museum representatives who kindly agreed to discuss with our students about the importance of the Peace, as well as participated in meaningful classroom activities in which our students were involved during the day.

The Green team organised a beautiful exhibition at the Mall with artworks made by our students to illustrate or celebrate peace. Guests enjoyed the exhibition, as well as the informative tables and boards put together by the Green Team and the Antiracism Club.

On top of having the opportunity to reflect on the meaning of Peace, this event contributed to building school spirit, fostering global consciousness, and promoting values related to peace, such as respect, compassion, and kindness in our community.
