A dedicated group of Grade 9 students recently demonstrated outstanding commitment and compassion by supporting a Christmas party for refugees hosted by Caritas in Vienna’s 10th district. The event offered students a meaningful opportunity to put their values into action while supporting families during the festive season.
In the weeks leading up to the celebration, students worked collaboratively to plan and organise a range of activity stations, including a photo booth, face painting, and games for children. Their preparation ensured that the event was welcoming, joyful, and engaging for young guests and their families.
On the evening of the party, the students took on a variety of responsibilities, supporting the Caritas team by running the cloakroom, welcoming guests in several languages, serving dinner, and helping with the clean-up at the end of the event. Their willingness to contribute wherever needed reflected a strong sense of responsibility and empathy.
Adding a special festive touch, the students also performed seasonal songs on stage during the dinner, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere—perfectly timed for the arrival of the Weihnachtsmann, who delighted the children by handing out presents.
This initiative was a highly successful Service as Action and Grade Level activity, offering students a powerful learning experience rooted in service, teamwork, and community engagement. We are proud of our Grade 9 students for their generosity, initiative, and positive impact.
