Global Action Day 2025

Celebrating Global Action Days with Inspiring Earth Day Initiatives

This past week, the VIS community came together to celebrate Global Action Days, a week dedicated to promoting meaningful actions that empower students to take part in the restoration of our planet.

One of the week’s highlights was a beautiful musical video message created by our talented Primary School Choir, honouring Earth Day and reminding us all of the importance of protecting our environment. Throughout the week, students, staff, and families received a variety of messages encouraging participation in sustainable activities both at school and at home.

Throughout the week, our Primary School’s Outdoor Learning Coordinators led a series of engaging, hands-on outdoor learning experiences. These included gardening projects such as preparing planters, watering and planting herbs, and harvesting them to enjoy with bread spreads. Students also explored the fascinating world of worms by learning about their habitats and creating a wormery, deepening their understanding of biodiversity and ecosystems.

These activities closely align with the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration goals. As highlighted in the UN’s Global Action Days Guide, “Each activity, from exploring the fascinating world of worms to celebrating nature’s beauty through photography and a party with nature, aligns with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration's goals. Acting together to help restore our planet’s ecosystems will help us reconnect with nature to create a more sustainable future.”

Thank you to the entire VIS community for your enthusiastic participation in this week’s Education for Sustainable Development initiatives. Together, we are making a difference, one small action at a time.
