For the fourth consecutive year, VIS was proud to celebrate Pride Week from June 3-7, continuing our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive community for all.
Throughout the week, students and staff had numerous opportunities to educate themselves, advocate, and show support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Activities included lunchtime events with guest speakers, a morning concert, and conversations about LGBTQIA+ resilience. Fundraising efforts were also part of the week’s initiatives, aimed at supporting relevant causes and raising awareness.
Additionally, all students received recommendations for resources to learn more about the LGBTQIA+ community and draw inspiration from its history and achievements. These resources were carefully curated to provide valuable insights and promote understanding and acceptance.
The celebration culminated in the Vienna Pride Parade on Saturday, June 8. Many students, staff, and families participated, marching together in a show of solidarity and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who supported Pride Week by wearing colours and Pride stickers, encouraging others to get informed, and participating in the events. The week concluded with the Pride flag proudly flying in front of the school, a powerful symbol of visibility and welcome for some of our most vulnerable community members.
VIS remains dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and Pride Week is a testament to our ongoing efforts to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
