VIS students joining the Stand Up for Climate March

Their level of enthusiasm and drive has been incredible, and as such they have been selected to be part of the few students who will have an opportunity to speak at Heldenplatz in front of the gathered crowds.

Two students from Grade 8 and Grade 9 led a student initiative for Vienna International School students to be a part of the Stand Up for the Climate march today, 15 March.

Their level of enthusiasm and drive has been incredible, and as such they have been selected to be part of the few students who will have an opportunity to speak at Heldenplatz in front of the gathered crowds today. This student action has also encouraged a large number of our students to become involved in this movement, which is aimed at young people having a voice and demanding that those in power make decisions in the best interests of the planet, and for those who will inhabit it over the next generations.

Our students have been part of a community of 60 other Viennese schools and other students who marched in 1200 cities around the globe at the same time. Seeing the VIS students recognising the challenges the world is facing and getting ready to take action and bring a positive difference to it at this young age, comes to confirm the successful mastering of the IB Learner Profile Attributes rooted in the everyday learning, and make us all proud and hopeful about the future to come.
