VIS Student Wins Austria Ski Jumping Cup

We congratulate Fabian Plank, Grade 7 student at VIS, for a major accomplishment!

We congratulate Fabian Plank, Grade 7 student at VIS, for a major accomplishment - winning the 1st place in the Austria Cup at Ski Jumping on 31 January 2021.

Ski jumping is a winter sport in which the competitors aim to achieve the long jumps after descending from a specially designed ramp on their skis. With his two jumps of 61,0 and 61,5 meters, Fabian won against prestigious competitors from Bischofshofen, Klagenfurt, Ramsau, Hinzenbach or Tschagguns. Despite all the difficulties of postponing or cancelling the training due to the Covid-19 restrictions, Fabian continued  to train and managed to display his abilities and win this competition in Villach, Tyrol.

When asked what does it take to win a competition of this caliber, Fabian replied: "The key elements for me to winning a sport competition are perseverance, giving your best (even if you are having a bad day) and motivation.”

We couldn't agree more! We congratulate Fabian for his achievement and we will be looking forward to hearing again from him!
