Students from the Republic of San Marino visiting VIS

Thanks go to the hosting families, students and VIS community for welcoming them into our home.

Seventeen students from the Upper Secondary School of San Marino participated in the cultural exchange program with the Vienna International School, spending a week with their peer students from Vienna International School.

The program was launched last year by Vienna International School in collaboration with the State Secretariat for Foreign Affairs, the State Secretariat for Culture and the San Marino Embassy in Austria and involved a group of students, selected by the San Marino school system, coming to Vienna in February in order to spend a week in an international and diverse linguistic school culture, and to experience life in a large European city. ‘The San Marino students had a wonderful experience last week when visiting Vienna as part of the student exchange programme.  Thanks go to the hosting families, students and VIS community for welcoming them into our home.” Derrick Devenport, VIS Secondary School Deputy Principal.

In 2018 for the first time, Vienna International School took part in a similar cultural exchange with the School from the Republic of San Marino. This proved to be an overwhelming success and, as a result, the parties decided to continue to offer the opportunity to Grade 10 and 11 students to once again take part in this exchange programme.

In early June, VIS students will then visit the hilltop republic of San Marino and experience the unique lifestyle and history of this nation. "Our goal is to intensify this relationship which is beneficial for both schools" emphasizes Nicola Renzi, State Secretary of the Republic of San Marino.
