Happy 40 Anniversary Vienna International School!

2018 is a remarkable year for Vienna International School (VIS).. We are turning 40!

40 years of providing a fantastic high-quality learning experience to our students.

40 years of shaping the lives of so many young people – the number of students who have walked through our doors over the years will be in the 10s of thousands.

40 years of dedication from valuable teachers who have worked hard to ensure that the Vienna International School students become good people, equipped with the  skills and moral values needed to make a positive difference in this changing world.

40 years ago, on 11 September 1978, Vienna International School opened its doors to pupils of 60 nationalities. Since then, the VIS and the Republic maintained close relations to help Austria find its destined role - to become a bridge builder between the two blocs and headquarters of the international organisations, their employees and their families. Down to the present day, the VIS is the home away from home for many international families. We are proud to currently host 1400 students from 3 to 18 years of age, coming from 111 nationalities and speaking 78 languages, in a campus that offers all the modern facilities needed to meet this Digital Age and in harmony with the ideas of the IB learner profile, and the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Under the motto “Making a difference and shaping the future.”, Vienna International School is celebrating today a success story of 40 years, in the presence of the former president of the Republic of Austria, Heinz Fischer and other respected guests of the local and international community.
