City of Vienna Visits VIS

Our Eco team received a new endorsement for our very functional Green Roof as well as the PhotoVoltaic System. Earlier this week, the City of Vienna officials came to visit, as part of their trip to observe the eco features of different local buildings.

Under the guidance of Ms. Dipl. Ing. in Claudia Prinz – Brandenburg, Project Coordinator for building greening, Architektur und Stadtgestaltung, Dezernat Planung öffentliche Bauten, her colleagues from “New Construction Educational Infrastructure'' as well as ten further representatives of other Official City Administration Departments - the visitors came to visit our premises on Tuesday, 6 June. The visitors were welcomed by the Director and Facility Manager and guided on a special eco tour of the school building, starting with the roof where they could see the photovoltaic system and the green roof facility. The guests discussed the details of the project implementation with the Facility Manager, Mr. Scheida, as well the approximate costs involved in maintaining the facilities. Furthermore, the guests walked to the EcoLab and had an interesting discussion with Mrs. Marti Hendrichs, the Eco Agenda Coordinator and Sustainability Education Consultant at VIS, who briefed them on the school's platform of education for sustainable development. The guests were very impressed with our sustainable thinking in terms of premises development and biodiversity focus, as well as proactively educating our students for becoming responsible global citizens with meaningful sustainable actions.
