Final Step in the Admissions Process
Dear Parents or Guardians
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you and your child as new members of the school community. We are proud of the long tradition that the school has for providing a caring learning environment for young people from around the world, and hope that you will soon get to experience it for yourselves.
As the first day of school for your child is approaching we would like to give you access to more vital information about our school in the information below. Please take some time to read through all of the sections so you are well prepared for the first day of school for your child.
On most mornings, you can find me at the security gate where I welcome all of our students and parents to our school. Please feel free to introduce yourself after your child has started school.
I look forward to meeting you and your child around the school.

You have three options:
- Option 1: You may order a new MacBook Air through our vendor Tools at Work. Click here for details and contact information.
- Option 2: You may purchase, finance or lease an Apple laptop device through a vendor of your choice or bring in an existing Macbook laptop you already own. Please review the recommended specifications.
- Option 3: You may bring a laptop device other than the school's recommended platform such as Windows or Chromebook. Please note that apart from connecting the device to the network and providing secure storage and charging facilities (G4 & 5 only), we will be unable to provide software licenses or technical support for non-Mac platforms.
When you child brings in his/her laptop device for the first time, they may notify their class teacher that it requires an initial set-up, getting logged onto the network and, for Apple laptop devices only, having any software installed.

The VIS Parent Teacher Association (PTA) would like to welcome you to our truly international school. We have families from many different cultures who are happy to help you integrate into our community.
We offer support to families who are new to VIS through our Buddy Family Network. This network pairs up new families with an established volunteer family who already have some experience of the school and living in Vienna. A Buddy Family can help you settle in by answering your questions and helping you to find further information and contacts. The Buddy Families might share the same language(s), nationality(-ies), or have children in the same grades. You can enroll in the Buddy Family Network by following the link here and filling out the form.
The PTA organizes a number of activities and events throughout the school year to enable parents and teachers to socialize and get to know each other better. These include coffee mornings & seminars, a welcome picnic, an annual cultural event, a bingo family afternoon and a summer bazaar. We have also on-going clubs for parents and teachers, such as the weekly walking and running groups (Walkie Talkie), the Culture Club which organizes monthly tours of some of Vienna's museums or attractions, the monthly Cooking Club with international dishes, the Hobby Club and Languages Clubs, and the Facebook group PTA VIS.
We look forward to meeting you at one of our events soon! If you want to contact us, write us an email: ptachair(at)ptavis.com
