VIS Welcomes New Director

Vienna International School is happy to announce that after an extensive search we are welcoming Ms. Lisa Biasillo as our new Director as of August 2020 into our community.

At the beginning of the school year 2019-2020, the VIS community was notified of the planned departure of Mr. Murphy from VIS after 10 years of extraordinary leadership and dedication to the School. Yet every end marks the beginning of a new chapter and we are excited to start the new decade with Lisa Biasillo and to see our school develop under her leadership.

During the past months, the Board of Governors as well as the extended VISA community, have had a chance to meet Ms. Biasillo and get to know her better. During these sessions our new Director elaborated on her previous experience leading international schools in Cambodia and – more recently – Rwanda, and how these appointments shaped her leadership style and expertise.

With a Master’s degree in Education from the College of New Jersey and a Master’s of Science in Development Management from the University of Birmingham, Lisa Biasillo early on set the cornerstone for her career in international education. Lisa worked as a teacher in South Korea and Cambodia before becoming the Director of an international school in Cambodia, a position she held for six years, expanding the school from 240 students to 930 students. Most recently Lisa served as the Head of School at Green Hills Academy in Rwanda, serving a diverse community of more than 1500 students. We are happy that her career path led her now to our vibrant community in Vienna.

Throughout the last months, Mr. Murphy and Ms. Biasillo were in active communication to ensure a smooth transition of leadership for Vienna International School. We are confident that Lisa Biasillo will be an enormous asset to our community and we look forward to welcoming her on the campus starting August 2020.
