Vienna International School (VIS) follows the Austrian authorities’ recommendations to limit the COVID-19 spread in Austria. Under the instructions of the Republic of Austria, the School has been closed down starting 16 March 2020, continuing to offer provisions for new learning to its students via the Distance Learning Programme.
Currently the School is opened for on-site supervision if needed, for students in Kindergarten and Grade Primary.
From 18 May, Vienna International School will re-open its gates to Grade 1-8* students. The School has put together a Re-opening Plan to ensure the safety to its students and staff, in accordance with the guidelines received from the authorities. The School will make efforts to keep the COVID-19 from entering the campus and decrease the person-to-person transmission by limiting the activities where large number of students are in close proximity. In addition, the School will be reinforcing the hygiene measures proved to be effective in reducing the contraction or spread the virus.
*Grade 9-12 students are expected to return on the school premises on 3 June.
For the students whose parents chose to keep them at home until the end of the school year (19 June), the School will show support and continue to offer them learning through the Distance Learning Model, which was designed to include provisions for new learning for all students during the lockdown time.
Please note that parents, guardians and external visitors will not be allowed on site for the moment. If you are a prospective parent and need more details about our school, please contact admissions(at)vis.ac.at. The Extra-Curricular programmes and school travel programmes remain suspended until further notice.
The objective of the school remains to do our best to support student and staff welfare and continue the learning. Thank you for your support and cooperation!
