Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct and School Rules
"The mission of the Vienna International School is to empower learners to achieve their potential in a nurturing and diverse environment, giving them the means and confidence to be successful and responsible in an evolving world."
This VIS Mission Statement clearly states our overall expectation for all students to thrive in our school community, realise personal and learning success, and achieve their best. Parents, students and staff may read the Mission Statement and wonder how we can work together to continuously create the conditions to fulfil this mission for all students.
One of the most important ways that we do this is through the school’s Code of Conduct which is designed to enable students and staff to focus on the development of positive behaviours and attitudes to learning and relationships. Parents and teachers know that values and responsible behaviours are learned over time through teaching, coaching, modelling, positive experiences, rewards and acknowledgement, and consistent consequences for inappropriate or irresponsible behaviour.
At VIS we work each day to support children and young people in the development of positive behaviours. At times we have referred to this work as a ‘labour of love’ and it is similar to the work that parents also do with their children in giving rules and boundaries, positive reinforcement, consequences and rewards to help children learn and grow to be responsible adults with self-discipline and confidence.
