Earliest face carving found on Orkney
Archaeologists in Orkney, including an ex-VIS student Jakob Kainz, have discovered the earliest carving of a human face ever found in Scotland. The figurine from an excavation at the Links of Noltland on the island of Westray has been described as "a find of astonishing rarity". There is a face with heavy brows, two dots for eyes and an oblong for a nose.
Jakob is the son of Helga Kainz, Primary German coordinator, and
the school would like to offer their warmest congratulations to
both of them for this achievement.
The VIS Alumni
external website
The VIS Alumni website enables former students and staff members
throughout the world to make, maintain and strengthen friendships
made whilst at Vienna International School.
It also provides an opportunity, following a number of successful
reunions that have taken place over the past few years, for many
more such reunions to be organised and attended in a variety of
locations, world-wide.
The first and foremost job is to "populate" the site. To do to do
this we ask that you contact all your friends and
acquaintances who are former students and encourage them to visit
the school website and join the Alumni Association.
We hope that you will support the school by joining the Alumni -
for many of us, our years at VIS were memorable, enjoyable and
hugely rewarding.
